New Patch October 27th

Today’s patch addresses more of some long-standing Darkfall issues as reported by the community. We will continue releasing smaller and faster patches in an effort to improve gaming conditions and address immediate player concerns. Additionally, there was a recent mass ban last week in regards to third party program exploits being used by some players. Associated accounts were also banned.  These bans had nothing to do with afk macroing, gold selling/buying violations or any other related offense.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an exploit whereby an encumbered player could mark or use a teleport rune by placing items in a trade window
  • Fixed an issue with two mounts, bluetail runner and tribeland bear, which allowed them to be spawned underwater
  • Fixed an issue with clan portal chambers which allowed a player access while they had an active trade-route
  • Fixed an issue whereby “late-joining” attackers could see an incorrect wall destruction limit in their GUI window
  • Fixed an issue with house tax-payment flags which meant that they would not be displayed correctly at server-up
  • Fixed an issue with non-stacking items in offline player inventories

Changes

  • Altered the display map-markers for timers to include the number of days, if appropriate
  • Altered the display of the mouseover targeting component for player-village control-points
  • Altered the display conditions of the “Welcome to Darkfall” public notification
  • Reduced the sea-fortress invulnerability period to 6 days
  • Rewritten Sea-Fortress live-timer handling to remove remaining issues and time-zone dependencies
  • House tax can now only be paid by the owner of the house, or one of their tenants
  • Player-village control-point capture is now based on the amount of damage done by each attacking clan
    • Only damage done by clan members is counted, and the clan-wide total is used to determine the capturing clan
    • The capturing player, who shares the tax rewards, is now the member of the capturing clan that did the most damage (their “MVP”)
  • Player-village control-points may now drop item rewards on capture (Not repetitive with the tax-period)
    • Item drops may be awarded to the player that achieved the last hit (or “Glory Shot”)
    • If the last-hit player is a member of the capturing clan, then any awarded items will also be given to the clan

OK nice patch with the villages. +1 this time.

Keep these sort of patches coming.

  3. It needed more time to write this Text:
Altered the display conditions of the “Welcome to Darkfall” public notification

than to change the colors :lmao

  4. How many years the comunity ask to fix those bugs?

…later than never…congrats…but doesnt make me resub

  5. awesome +1 you got the haxxors AND you fixed some issues… Gud Job

Good patch. Back this up with a worth while update tomorrow and you’ll win some hearts back, Tasos. This could put you on a roll.

    When I saw;

“Player-village control-point capture is now based on the amount of damage done by each attacking clan”

    I thought “So now a player only has to damage 51% of the stone and then leave it be.” But then I saw;

“Item drops may be awarded to the player that achieved the last hit (or “Glory Shot”)
If the last-hit player is a member of the capturing clan, then any awarded items will also be given to the clan”

Interesting way of getting players to destroy the remaining 49% of the village stone.

    Villages has days timers now?

  8. Lucien Vogel says:

some timers go down as seconds the rest is standing still on 00

  9. Great patch on the correcting bug front.
It was long awaited and it’s very good to see progress. :D

The “Glory shot” is a great addition as well

But I can’t let this rest:
In what world is the “most damage made” approach a good idea for VPC ?
It really is taking a step forward and two backwards.

Even the glory shot can’t compensate that, and it discourages PvP.
Why take the risk of fighting when a VPC is already bellow half ?
Why come back after a defeat since there is no way of winning in the end ?

I understand you wanted to reuse code, but why not reuse some other pieces ?

Make each clan have to do the same ammount of damage to a VPC, the first one to reach the top wins.
Kind of a “King of the Hill” scenario in strategy game.

It encourages coming back after wiping or attacking a group no matter how far they are in their hammering.

The victors will gain the reward, not those that showed early.

Keep the “glory shot” as a bonus to make VPC even more interesting.

  10. Great news! Looking forward to how things play out now with these changes.

funny how you waited 2 days after BF3′s launch to release this patch…

took a long time to release a patch to address the house taxes being payed by randoms issue. If your banned – if your unsubbed to bad – theres going to be plenty of chances for people to have a good home. =)

imo if you get perm banned – your house goes live and it kicks your tenant. any plans for this to be included in future patches?

    Wow nice job.

Did we get those sweet pumpkin head helms the goblins wore this year? The pumpkin weapon was neat but I think running around with a pumpkin head would be hilariously awesome. Anyone else with me on this one?

  14. Good stuff, good exploit fixes and the mass ban with associate accounts was a nice one this week. Village Control Point changes will put me out there more often now.

  15. Excellent ! Especially the village caping part !

  16. Brian Lawton says:

+1 on this one. Now.. in 2-3 more weeks, another small patch. Please?
And 2.0 by the end of the year?

  17. Jonny Smith says:

Amazing how things happen when subs numbers go down and competitors are releasing.
    Good stuff nevertheless.

  18. Tyler Knotts says:

What happened to the weekly media sneak peeks your promised?
What happened to the ETA you promised?
I am now part of the community that has unsubbed, and keeps coming back to this site, hoping to find something worth while.
I think I’m just going to stick with Skyrim when it comes out. And check back here maybe… Next year? And see that ’2.0′ still hasn’t been released…

    • well, it’s much easier to wait when you don’t give a shit more or less. unsubbing really helps to keep all this eta-crap far enough from coming too close to your soul.

i still love this game. however one must keep himself tight in relations if he wants to force his partner to change himself a bit. even if you must to break off, even if it hurts you – keep yourself tight. in the end you will gain all or nothing. and it’s always better to have nothing and keep searching for the best than being engaged with primitive person that thinks he’s a hub of the universe.

  19. Bear says:

Hey Geck. Teabag and gang Mickey for me. ;)

  20. you finally made it, am happy that you still can produce bug fixing patches, that lives my hope up again.

  21. i keep hoping for new armour and weps :P

  22. David Hicks says:

Wipe or not to wipe that is the question…

    C’MON WIPE ME PLEASE!!!

  25. Shane Stout says:

i hear they even make BABY wipes… i wonder which option AV will choose, big boy wipes, or baby wipes either way my dipey feels a bit full-o-updates, WIPE ME

  26. ^—

    I like this guy, lol.

I bet Tasos is still able to ignore the question though. He probably didn’t see it.

  27. funny. it’s always better not to do stupid things at all. hwever if one was made, is there any reason to worry about couple others?

tasos made a terrible and stupid thing – he allowed himself to speak about wipe probability after commercial release. there is nothing left he can say to make things worse. is there any point to keep silence and being frightebed of talking some more rubbish? now it’s really doesn’t matter if there will be a wipe or not because people act like it will be. so they loose nothing if they say any bullshit – we’re got used to it long ago.
