Recent events have turned the eyes of certain parties northwards towards the jungle continent of Yssam. Rumors of war-drums and a dark jungle cult have been working through the merchant taverns of Agon. Ship captains sailing off the coast have reported seeing a large dark shape occasionally moving through the jungle canopy. While this humble scholar’s opinion believes wild speculation ignores the glaringly obvious facts the Watcher demands a strict neutrality of his acolytes. To this end I chronicle events only as they happen.

Two weeks ago word reached the Mirdain emissary of the Emerald Throne in Tolenque of a traveler who apparently had survived an ambush on the emerald continent and was in hiding. The emissary sent word to Charybdis and a council was immediately called. It was decided that this survivor be sought out and questioned as soon as possible.

However, on Agon information is neither free nor as personal as mortals would like. Word of this survivor reached the Orkish clans and immediately they set forth under the banner of Houze of Payn, their most mobile clan-warriors, to locate this survivor.

In a panic over this turn of events, the Emerald Throne charged their representative Tanithalas Leafsong to reach the survivor before the Orkish clan at any cost. Tanithalas made it known that the Emerald Throne would be both grateful, and indeed, generous to any adventurers who would help them reach this increasingly valuable individual.

Within days many clans eagerly flocked to the Mirdain banner. The first to answer the call was one Iona Leafblade, followed shortly after by many other brave warriors such as Echelon Cocytus and Aylundawae Goldenhand. Many clans also pledged their support to the swiftly growing Mirdain party. The Ancient Order, the Yew Militia and Dark Hand of Valor were but a few of those who swore fealty and would guard Tanithalas on his frenzied trek.

Confident that their numbers would be able to crush any opposing force that stood in their way Tanithalas called forth his small force of fast moving warriors to begin their journey with haste. Iona Leafblade led the small band of warriors along with others such as Curator DeOrdo, Grael Alor and Cii Sharp. Together they set forth with the Mirdain emissary to begin an uneventful and hasty trek to the location of the survivor from Yssam.

Or so they believed...

Whether through ill fate or a deliberate betrayal their path was littered with Orkish ambushes. Too late word reached the small band that their allies were kept from joining the fray through a series of heavy sieges in their lands. They arrived at the first check-point to a pitched battle. The clan of Val Aria were fighting off an ambush by marauders apparently sent by the Orkish emissary to waylay the Mirdain party. Though they had some aid from lone warriors such as Zantir Twzzl and Scotty Dank, they were hopelessly outnumbered and though his escort fought bravely Tanithalas was cut down by one Apollo Incarnate from the Kights of Terror.

It seems that, unbeknownst to the Emerald Throne, the Houze of Payn warriors had called forth a fierce army of mercenaries. This large force was strategically deployed to the key locations of the Mirdain checkpoints in a series of merciless ambushes.
An Orkish ally known as Xpiher Duminous arranged a number of deadly ambushes that proved to be the death of the largely outnumbered force of Mirdain allies.

Meanwhile the Orkish emissary Grok Skullgrinder made his way unopposed towards the location of the survivor. At one point a large raiding party allied to the Mirdain did attempt an ambush but Grok's elite guard led by Fly Man and the Black Shields protected the Ork and pushed back the enemy.

My latest information shows that the Orkish party did eventually reach the survivor they sought. I await details of what they discovered from my sources that I may add to this chronicle of recent events.
