A chronicling of the events surrounding a small band of the Ul’tannek family witnessed and recorded by Behram, humble Acolyte of the Watcher.
On the tenth hour of the eve exactly two weeks ago by this pen, a small band of travelers leaves the shadows of the Red Pharaoh’s Pyramid in Rubaiyat. The band is led by one Shakra Ul’tannek and her brothers Rabash and Orum. The caravan carries a small wealth of goods and gems to an apparent secret buyer on the continent of Yssam in the north. The family and their retainers use the cover of night and the chaos of a battle that has erupted just outside the pyramid to slip quietly away to a waiting boat.

After a small amount of research this humble chronicler has determined that the family itself “leaked” information about their secret mission in a (successful) effort to cause a diversion that would allow their convoy to sneak away from the Pyramid.
As the clans warred around the area of the Floating pyramid the agents of the family crept to a harbor and waiting boat. There they boarded and drifted off into the night in the direction of the continent. Along the way the Ul’tannek stopped to allow members of the Hyperion alliance and other clans to board the brigantine they traveled on. These un-suspecting heroes had been enlisted as protectors.. though in reality the family hoped their blood would be shed when the convoy would be inevitably attacked. Their hope was that the mass of bodies and blood spilt would serve as blood sacrifice to earn the favor of the Red Pharaoh.
However, in an unforeseen turn of events the defenders easily over-whelmed any hostile forces with minimal open warfare. The Ul’tannek were thus forced to sacrifice their own lives as an offer to the angry demi-god, though what they hoped to gain from these actions is a matter for mere speculation at this point.. and perhaps no small degree of concern.
It should be noted that en route to the supposed meeting destination many of the escorting clans hired by the Ul'tanneks fought of skirmishes and attacks by raiders and small bands of local beasts.

A small ambush was in fact waiting for the party as their boat landed. The attack was met with a swift response from mercenaries of the clans known as the Nomads and Bag and Sword who had escorted the family and guarded them on the seas. After a brief slaughter further aid arrived in the guise of clans such as the Black Company, Gallowglass and ANG.
At this point a Battle Ark was unloaded and assembled upon the shore. After some initial technical difficulties (though the Ul'tannek driver swore it was sabotage) the Ark began its journey. The escort was vigilant and no trouble reached the caravan.. however the Ul'tannek were noted to be suspiciously tense and seemed to be awaiting something.
Then, without warning, the clan of ANG turned about the family and attempted to assassinate them amid a small confusion. This attempt was quashed swiftly and viciously and the corpses of the seemingly opportunistic clan left to the animals in the wake of the slowly ever-plodding Ark.
Unsurprisingly the Ul'tannek members did not seem over-joyed at their escort's success and tension mounted as the caravan continued upon its route. Few skirmishes and one open attack saw the hopes of the family rise momentarily but their escorts abilities proved too strong to succumb and no great amount of blood-shed was seen.
In a final, desperate effort to incite chaos and open warfare the Ul'tannek secretly coerced the Black Company to attack them. True to their mercanary philosphy the Black Company did not hesitate upon this bizzare order, they simply took the extra pay, drew their weapons and charged.
However, even this attempt was soon put down by the stalwart defenders. In an increasing panic over the displeasure of their patron, the Shadows of Rubaiyat plunged daggers into their own chests and offered their blood towards Ur-Khamset's honor.
Since these bizzare events I have received word that this indeed was not the end of the Ul'tannek. This humble chronicler will try and uncover further the designs of this rising power to the south.
Humbly yours,
Behrem Silverhand, Acolyte of the Watcher.
